Sagrada Família

Sagrada Família rises above the Eixample district like no other building in Europe. Its towers are dense with organic carvings of leaves, skulls, and geometric forms. Inside, stone columns branch upward like a forest, meeting a vaulted ceiling far above. Stained glass in blues and ambers floods the nave with shifting light throughout the day.

Antoni Gaudí began this basilica in 1882 and devoted his final 43 years to it. He died in 1926 with only a fraction of it complete. Construction continues today using his original blueprints. Visitors are not simply admiring a finished landmark but watching architecture still reaching its final form.

Park Güell

Park Güell rises on Carmel Hill, above the Barcelona rooftops, covered in Gaudí's mosaic tilework. Stone colonnades arch beneath the main terrace like a forest frozen mid-growth. Broken ceramic tiles coat every surface in patterns that catch the light differently each hour.

Gaudí originally designed this as a private residential estate, not a public park. That sense of intimate scale survives in the narrow paths and carved stone walls. The long serpentine bench on the main terrace faces both the city skyline and the sea. Sitting there, you understand why Gaudí chose this hill above all others.
