Brandenburg Gate

Brandenburg Gate stands in pale sandstone at the end of Unter den Linden. Its twelve Doric columns frame Pariser Platz with strict, calm symmetry. Above them, the bronze Quadriga faces the city with controlled power.

The gate is Berlin’s clearest symbol of rupture, endurance, and reunion. Visitors come because history feels visible here, not packaged or softened. At night, its lit columns make the square feel quiet, serious, and deeply human.

Reichstag Building

The Reichstag is a heavy neo-Renaissance stone building crowned by a modern glass dome. Inside, a spiral walkway winds upward directly above the active parliamentary chamber. The city stretches in every direction from the observation level at the top.

The dome was designed by Norman Foster after reunification, built to make government visibly open to its citizens. Visitors walk up while politicians debate directly below through the glass. Standing there, looking down into the working Bundestag, makes democracy feel unusually tangible.
