APRIL - MAY
Budget FriendlyKeukenhof blooms draw crowds to the Bollenstreek corridor but the city itself remains navigable. King's Day (April 27) converts every canal into a floating market — price this into your stay or avoid it entirely.
SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER
Budget FriendlyTourist volume drops sharply after September. Canal-side trees turn amber, light is soft and photogenic, and the museum circuit is actually walkable. Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in mid-October spikes hotel rates for one week.
NOVEMBER - MARCH
AvoidGrey, wet, and persistently cold. The city compresses inward — brown cafés fill up, museum visits become genuinely contemplative. Rare hard freezes (<-5°C) unlock canal skating, but do not plan around it.
