Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot rises from the sea on a dark rock shaped by waves. The temple sits low against the horizon, surrounded by foaming water at high tide. Sunsets paint the sky in gold and deep orange, reflecting on the ocean. The air smells of salt, and distant chants drift from nearby shrines.

Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple stands on a sheer cliff edge, 70 meters above the Indian Ocean. The ancient black stone shrines face the open sea, with waves crashing far below. At dusk, the sky turns amber and the temple glows against the horizon. Monkeys move freely through the compound, indifferent to the crowds gathering for sunset.

Built in the 11th century, Uluwatu is one of Bali's six sacred sea temples. Each evening, dancers perform the Kecak fire dance on a clifftop stage. The chanting echoes across the ocean as flames and shadows move in unison. Few places on earth make you feel so small, and so fully present.
