Yongning Gate

Yongning Gate rises from Xiโanโs Ming city wall with dark brick, red timber, and layered roofs. The gatehouse feels ceremonial, but the broad wall above is calm and open. From the top, you see old ramparts, lanterns, traffic, and the city moving below.

It is the grand southern entrance to one of Chinaโs best preserved city walls. Visitors come for the scale, the evening lights, and the clear view into Xiโanโs imperial past. Standing there, the city feels both ancient and fully alive.
